Someone is a piggy!

Well I am happy to report that our lil Vivienne has been packing on the pounds. Her last doctor's appt. 2 weeks ago had her weighing in at 6 pounds, 4 oz. Yesterday she weighed 8 pounds, 8 oz. Talk about a BIG change!

I'm very proud of her and myself :)
Good job boobies for nourishing our daughter. It makes all those sleepless nights worth it.

Matt went in for a kiss and got mistaken for a nipple instead!

My 2 Favorite Girls

It's All Good

Well, it's been an interesting 2 weeks here at the Mitchell household. Matt has gone back to work and I'm taking care of Viv by myself.

The first day was a big of a challenge, but now I feel pretty confident with my Mommy skills.

Friends and family have been fantastic, stopping by and bringing food and gifts. We are truly blessed to have such great friends!

Vivienne has been an angel, except a few trying nights. But overall I'd say she's a keeper :)
I don't even mind the multiple times I've been peed and pooped on.

I'm on the mend with a small setback. Hopefully I can clear up this nasty infection and be up and running. It's been hard to recoup when you have someone depending on you every 2 hours of the day. I just hope my body gets the memo that I'm a VIP now and heal me already!

And now for your viewing pleasure, my favorite chick!

Bath time!

Viv's first bath at home. She was very well behaved, peed on us once and hardly cried. Good girl :)

Anatomy of a poopy diaper

(I just peed on Mommy's lap...hehehe. Wait, oh no... I just made a gigantic poopy in my diaper.)

(Oh wow, that was loud. Why is everyone staring and laughing at me?)

(Aaaaahhhh sweet relief!)

Late night... you bet!

It's hard spending the whole night making poopy diapers, isn't it?

Twins? Nah, just cousins...

Vivienne

A slight complication...

Poor Viv,
Our little girl was diagnosed with jaundice at the end of our hospital stay. Since she was doing so well with breast feeding and making dirty diapers, we were allowed to take her home and see how her levels went.

Sadly her bilirubin has been climbing so we have been taking her to the doctor daily for blood work. It was recommended we rent a biliblanket for 2 days to get her levels down. She doesn't seem to mind the blanket, which is a good thing!

(Now if I can just get to the gym and do laundry I should be good...)

Today we received good news that her levels are dropping, so fingers crossed she is back to normal very soon. I'm relieved jaundice does not cause newborns any discomfort, it's been hard seeing her poor heel get pricked every day. But she is a trooper, rarely crying at all and being very brave about the whole thing. Just the thought of a needle going in my heel makes my bottom lip tremble.

Welcome!

Hello! If you have arrived here, welcome and hope you enjoy seeing the life and times of Vivienne Ava.

Vivienne was born on Monday, May 2nd at 5:24pm. She weighed in at a gigantic 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Her length was 20.5 inches.

(Mommy and Vivienne)

Talk about a big surprise, I was only 37 weeks and 2 days. The previous day, Sunday, I had gotten a belly blessing from a wonderfully talented lady, Anju Garg. Little did I know that blessing would pay off early the next morning.

(Little does Mom and Dad know I am planning my great escape tomorrow!)

My water broke that Monday morning around, 5:45am. After being admitted within the hour, I was given pitocin to speed up my contractions and boy did it work!

After enduring an hour of contractions due to a failed epidural, the second attempt kicked in and it was kittens and unicorns. Let me tell you, I have EXTREME respect for any women out there who went through natural childbirth (my Mom included.) I thought I was going to die. I would never wish that kind of pain on anyone.

After my best friend, the epidural, began to work its magic, I quickly dilated from 5-10 cm under 2 hours and it was push time. An hour of pushing was well worth the effort, as my sweet Vivienne made her entrance into this world. I'll never forget first seeing her beautiful face on my chest and those eyes looking up at me. Truly the most precious experience of my life.

But back to the star of the show...

(My homecoming outfit is too small guys... Expecting a much fatter baby Mommy? Showed you!)
